Thousands of women and men have improved their complexions with chemical peel which is truly a scientific miracle. Chemical peel is a very effective method, is safe, has been used for the past 50 years by professionals in the skin industry and is suitable for all age groups and skin types.
CHEMICAL PEELING PROCEDURE
A mild acid solution is applied onto the skin for 10 minutes which causes exfoliation of the entire upper layer, encouraging new skin to grow in deeper layers of the dermis. The new skin is smoother, fresher, younger and healthier with more of an even colour.
After applying the solution some degree of tingling or stinging will be experienced for the first 3-5 minutes, at this stage the skin feels warm and tight. Over the period of 3 days the skin’s appearance changes from white to pink and dark beige to brown. By the 3rd or 4th day the skin starts to crack which means it is ready to peel. After peeling, the skin will be red for 5 days and the procedure should be completed within 10 days.
A specific oil should be applied to the skin 3 times a day for the first week.
IMPORTANT POINTS ABOUT CHEMICAL PEELING
- It is very important to let the dry skin peel off in its own time.
- DO NOT pick at the flakes as this will only delay healing.
- DO NOT directly expose the new skin to the sun for 3 months after a chemical peeling.
- Apply a Factor 30-40 SPF everyday and try to stay away from the sun during the hours of 11 am – 3 pm.
- Wear a hat or use an umbrella if in the direct sun and avoid the sun generally as much as possible.
- Chemical peeling is suggested during the cooler weather such as winter, first 2 months of spring or last 2 months of autumn.
- If the new skin is exposed to the sun, it will burn more easily than the rest of the skin and may burn unevenly causing pigmentation.
- A series of fruit acid peels are recommended for several weeks after a chemical peel for optimal results.
- Chemical peel is more suitable for fair-skinned people as it is less effective for olive and dark skinned individuals.
